Libra is the halfway point of the zodiac and as such represents the end of our material dreams and the beginning of our spiritual ones. Venus desires the good things of life, but in Libra it has a more important role. Venus was known as Bhrighu in the Vedas and was the advisor to the demons - the highly evolved souls who have lost their purity in the pursuit of self. Venus's rulership of the crucial sign of Libra indicates the need for guidance on the route towards higher consciousness. However, Venus doesn't initiate. Saturn's mission is to move individual consciousness on the final journey to spiritual liberation, so it is exalted in the sign where this journey begins.
